Attica is a remote city on Mars renowned for its banking.

Features[]

Attica is located atop seven mountain peaks[1] on the continent of Cimmeria.[2] The peaks are topped with buildings made of steel and glass, made to look jagged like thorn crowns. The seven peaks are linked by bridges, while the city's lesser wards extend down the mountains toward the roots.[1]

The highest of the seven peaks is topped with a fortress citadel, and trees line the path from the citadel to its landing pad. The citadel contains at least twenty-four floors, and a prison complex large enough to hold over two thousand captives.[3]

After The Fall, a memorial for Trigg ti Nakamura was errected on the site in Attica where he died.[2]

History[]

During the Martian Civil War, the city was occupied by allies of House Bellona until they were displaced by Adrius au Augustus, who came in with a team of a thousand lurchers during the Lion's Rain and emptied the occupying Golds' bank accounts before claiming the city as his personal headquarters.

Mickey, Harmony, and Evey were held in the dungeons of the Citadel when they were captured by Adrius during the week after the Rain before Darrow au Andromedus smuggled a Sons of Ares team past The Jackal's security to rescue them.

Following the massacre at Darrow's Triumph, he and Victra au Julii were imprisoned in Attica for twelve months until they were rescued by the Sons of Ares in March 743 PCE.

During the Solar War, Victra seized control of Attica and turned it into a base for House Julii.

In February 754 PCE, patriotic Silvers and other volunteers from Attica responded to Lyria's distress call when she instigated an uprising within The Red Hand's base after Ephraim ti Horn and Pax Augustus boosted the single to half of Cimmeria.

Trivia[]

  • Darrow refers to Attica as a southern city in Golden Son, however details in Dark Age regarding the location of the Red Hand's base and the site of Lyria's landing after the attack on the Pandora place the city in Mars's northern hemisphere.
