He's often referred to as "Old Barlow" because he is old. He is also described as thick. He smokes.

Along with Darrow, he is part of Narol's crew. Barlow makes fun of the Gamma like other Reds in Lykos. Barlow is also a family friend of Darrow's and, with Loran and Narol, teases Darrow about Eo. Despite the teasing, Darrow includes Barlow as one of the people he most cares about.
