Fitchner, you fucking bastard! What the hell did you do?
— Sons of Ares Vol. 1

Doran was a Red from Mars and a founding member of the Sons of Ares.

Personality[]

Doran is easily panicked and somewhat naive, being unprepared for the tactics used by the original Sons and easily advocates for compliance when Varus au Celinius demands they release him and surrender.[1]

Involvement[]

Sons of Ares, Volume I:[]

Doran was originally a construction worker in New Thebes, where he worked alongside Bryn and Ryanna. Doran had a crush on Ryanna and was occasionally caught staring at her on the train when leaving their worksites.[2] At some point before November 720 PCE, Doran became involved in Fitchner au Barca's team, and accompanied them on their mission to infiltrate Whitehold after Bryn was arrested by the Board of Quality Control.[3]

Doran accompanied the team when they kidnapped Varus au Celinius to obtain the access codes for Whitehold's utility tunnels. When Fitchner cuts off Varus's hand, Doran protests. However, once Varus gives them the information they need, Doran advocates for leaving Varus where he is, saying that since Varus is a Gold, he'll "slither out of anything."[3]

When the group is surroudned by Varus's Obsidian bodyguards, Doran advocates for releasing Varus and surrendering. In the process, he address Fitchner by name despite the latter's order not to use their real identities, forcing Ryanna to immediately execute Varus in order to keep their identities a secret. Doran begins to panic, and is told by Ryanna that there's no no going back now. When the team is confronted by Varus's bodyguards while fleeing their hideout, Doran begs Fitchner not to leave them behind despite Fenix and Ryanna urging him to do so.[1]

When the group enters the tunnels that supply electricity to Whitehold, Doran asks where they are, and is given an answer by Ryanna before she tells him to shut up and let Fitchner think.[4]

Doran is killed when the group is ambushed by Devourers in the tunnels. The rest of the team escapes while the Devourers rip Doran to shreds.[2] The team finds his corpse after Fitchner manages to kill the Devourers. Ryanna feels bad that she never reciprocated his feelings for her, but Fenix insisted that he died among his friends.[5]
