Liago is a Yellow from Mars and the personal physician of House Telemanus.

Appearance[]

By the time of Iron Gold, Liago is nearly 70 years old and his age shows. His face is wrinkled and has little patches of facial hair. He has a long jaw, and "great plumes" of white hair. He is also hard of hearing. Despite his age, he's described as having nimble hands.[1]

Involvement[]

Pre-Saga[]

At some point before 740 PCE, Liago met a woman who inspired his creation of the Night Lily, a flower that can kill on contact if handled incorrectly. He began attempting to create the flower in 740 and spent the next thirteen years attempting to perfect its genetic code. The failed protoypes are left in a greenhouse on Mars in Zephyria.[1]

Morning Star[]

Though not shown or mentioned, Liago moved to Luna with the rest of the Telemanus household after The Fall.[1]

Iron Gold[]

Liago assigns Lyria the task of gathering stool samples from Sophocles to determine why the fox has been behaving so erratic lately, particularly around the pachelbel birds.

When delivering fresh samples on October 16, 753 PCE, Lyria finds him handling a perfected Night Lily at his botany desk, oblivious to the howling tea kettle on his electric stove. Lyria brings him his tea and inquires about the flower, prompting him to explain why he created it and demonstrate what it can do. After Lyria gives him the stool samples, he explains the chemical notations on the holoprojector as his equipment analyzes the samples.

When Lyria tells him that the rest of the staff aside from Kavax and some of the dockers talk badly about her behind her back, Liago tells her that he and Kavax see her as a reminder of home, and that she shouldn't worry about being popular. Become Lyria can say anything, Sophocles jumps onto one of Liago's lab tables and breaks his supplies. Liago orders Lyria to get the fox out of there and to not bring him back until he's found out what's wrong with him.[1]

Relationships[]

Allies[]

Bethalia[]

Liago is said to dote on Bethalia and send her flowers that he personally designed for her. Liago claims that she has a soft spot for him and that he could get away with murder.[1]
