Gorgons

Legio Zero Pavor Nocturnus is a division of Legio Cohors Nihil, Zero Legion, under the command of Atlas au Raa.[1] Members of Pavor Nocturnus are known by the public as Gorgons. They specialize in guerilla-style warfare, as well as black-ops and infiltration.

Their ranks consist of Shamed Golds from the Institute, and Grays and Obsidians with antisocial tendencies deemed corrosive to the fighting spirit of the regular legions.[2] They are accompanied by Green Hackers, Violet Carvers, Frumentarius Whites, and even the leader of the Ascomanni.[3][4]

Armor[]

During the Battle of the Ladon, the Gorgons wear Scorosuits and skipBoots, possibly owing to Atlas's Ionian heritage, and the fact that they use less energy and are harder to detect.[5][6] They also wear the masks of children's faces with chrome eyes.[2]

Involvement[]

Pre-dark age[]

Atlas au Raa, with the Gorgons, were tasked with exterminating the Ascomanni by Octavia au Lune. This is seen as a banishment from the Society.

Dark Age[]

Gorgons were heavily involved in the fighting on Mercury during the Solar War. They were involved in the capture of Alexander au Arcos at Tyche, the defeat of a squad of Howlers (including Darrow) near Heliopolis, and the erection of “Forests” – a termed coined by Atlas au Raa for the impalement of the many captured soldiers on poles and their subsequent booby-trapping.

Light Bringer[]

Gorgons were responsible for the execution of the Tharsus au Valii-Rath, and the infiltration of the Duskmaker and subsequent destruction of the Rim Armada. It was later revealed the extent of their espionage activities in enemy and friendly forces, with 281 agents stationed aboard the Lightbringer.

They were involved in the razing of Jupiter’s moons Kalyke, Io, Callisto & Europa, and were responsible for the theft of the bioweapon Eidmi from the moonlet Orpheus.
