A Legion is an army unit consisting of up to 50,000 soldiers[1][2] divided into cohorts of 1,000 each. The term also refers to the army as an entite organizatiom.

Structure[]

All legions are typically led by a Legate, but may sometimes be placed under the direct authority of a Praetor, Imperator, or ArchImperator.

Each cohort is divided into Centuries of 100 soldiers each under a centurion, and each Century is divided into squadrons of ten commanded by a Decurion.[3]

Under The Society and the Rim Dominion, membership in The Legion is restricted to Golds, Obsidians, and Grays. Grays were considered legionnaires, while Gold soldiers were referred to as knights and Obsidians considered slave knights. In the legions of the Solar Republic, enlistment is open to all colors, and all soldiers are considered legionnaires regardless of their caste.

Following the Second Moon Lord Rebellion, the newly independent Rim created a new type of legion known as a Phalanx with greater mobility than a standard legion.[4]
