Lovelock Engine on Triton
The Lovelock Engine is a machine Golds use to manipulate the tectonic plates of a planet. Each planet or moon undergoing terraforming is equipped with two engines, with one placed on each pole. They tower dozens of stories above the surface, each burrowing down into the surface and meeting at the core of the solar body.
The purpose of a Lovelock Engine is to alter the shape of the terrain to create mountains, plains, valleys, etc. It also can be used to stabilize quakes and volcanic activity on planets and moons.
