Marius au Raa is a Gold of House Raa and a Quaestor of the Rim Dominion. He is the third son of Romulus and Dido au Raa and the older brother of Seraphina.

Appearance[]
According to Lysander, he is described as ugly, with a "dark goatee and close-cropped hair." He has a large forehead and jaw which contrast with the rest of his body of "knobby joints and spindly appendages." His skin color is sickly pale, and his neck is mottled with brown splotches.[1]

Golden Son[]
Though not mentioned during the events of the novel, Marius studied at the Politico Academy on Luna as a hostage during this period,[1] until he escaped in the aftermath of Darrow's Triumph with the aid of Virginia au Augustus's spies and made his way back to Io.
Iron Gold[]
When Seraphina illegally infiltrated Republic territory to purchase evidence that Darrow was responsible for the destruction of the Ganymede Dockyards during the Battle of Ilium, Marius called for the torture of Hjornir to make the Obsidian tell him where she went.
When Seraphina was brought back to Io along with the captured Lysander au Lune and Cassius au Bellona, Lysander recognized Marius from his time on Luna, and feared that Marius would recognize him and expose his identity. To his relief, Marius does not recognize him, and instead focuses on speaking with Pandora.[1]
When Seraphina condemns Pandora to Romulus for torturing and killing Hjornir, Marius reveals that Pandora did so on his orders.[1]
