The Nessus is a Xiphos-class frigate built by the Venus Dockyards during The Solar War. It was seized after a failed raid on a Solar Republic supply caravan, and claimed by Regulus ag Sun for his own personal use as an interplanetary shuttle.

Description[]

The Nessus is one hundred meters long and has at least four decks.[1][2] The ship has a biometric sensor station located on the second deck and a swimming pool on the fourth. The ship has at least one stateroom and multiple sets of quarters for other passengers located on either the first or third decks. The engine room is located at the rear of the vessel and takes up multiple levels.

The Nessus is also outfitted with a gymnasium and a galley, as well as at least one dining room specifically for the ship's officers. The officer's dining room is equipped with custom tables.

One level of the ship contains a prison block for transporting captives. At least one of the cells has a window that can turn opaque or clear on command to allow passengers to speak with a prisoner without having to enter the cell.

The ship has is also equipped with an armory, a conference room, and presumably at least one storage room for transporting cargo.[2]

The ship is armed with gun batteries on the outside[1], controlled by at least one gunner chamber,[3] as well as multiple particle cannons. A row of spitTubes is located on the vessel's port side.[4]

The Nessus was designed for voyages in space and thus lacks maneuverability during atmospheric flight.[3]

The exterior of the ship is painted entirely in white and is equipped with external holoCams. The Sun Industries logo is stamped on both the port and starboard sides of the hull.[1]

History[]

Solar War[]

The Nessus was built by the Venus Dockyards between 743 and 751 PCE. In the first year of the Siege of Mercury, the Nessus and other Society Remnant warships attempted to raid a Sun Industries supply caravan en route to Mercury. The Nessus was damaged during the battle and ultimately captured. Instead of reporting the ship to the Republic government, Quicksilver used archaic salvage rules to claim the ship for himself and retrofitted it into a personal shuttle.[1] Over the next two years, his husband Matteo came to consider it his favorite ship.[5]

Iron Gold[]

Quicksilver secretly loans the Nessus to Darrow to escape from being imprisoned when the Senate orders his arrest for his actions at the end of the Siege of Mercury.

After extracting Apollonius au Valii-Rath from Deepgrave, Darrow and the Howlers sail the Nessus to Venus, where they use it to attack the Ash Lord's fortress in the Battle of Gorgon Isle. After the battle, Sevro flies back to Luna aboard the Nessus while Darrow steals the Necromancer and sails to Mercury.
