Terraforming is the process of making a planet or moon suitable for human habitation. It is accomplished using advanced machinery powered by Helium-3. Terraforming can take many years, but most or all of the rocky planets of the Solar system were terraformed long before the events of Red Rising.
Several types of machine are known to be involved in terraforming:
Mass drivers[]
Mass drivers can change the speed at which planets rotate, altering the length of their days to suit human inhabitants.
Lovelock Engines[]
Lovelock engines can manipulate tectonic activity to alter the landscape of a planet.
Storm Gods[]
Storm Gods create supernaturally large artificial weather systems powerful enough to alter a planet's landscape, such as hypercanes. They are arguably weapons of mass destruction.
