The Valkyrie are a band of of Obsidian warriors and namesake of the Tribe of the Valkyrie Spires in the Martian antarctic. They played a key role in uniting the Obsidians of Mars under the banner of Darrow O'Lykos during The Rising in 743 PCE.

Description[]

Valkyries are identifiable by the sky blue handprint painted on each of their faces, with an eye drawn in the center of the hand.[1]

History[]

Pre-Saga[]

Under the leadership of Queen Alia Volarus, the Valkyrie raided other clans in her rise to prominence.[2]

At some point betwern 718 and 743 PCE, Alia's daughter Sefi joined the ranks of the Valkyrie sometime after her brother Ragnar was taken to the stars to become a Stained.

Morning Star[]

A cadre of Valkyrie under the leadership of Sefi spotted the flames of a crashing spacecraft as it plummeted through the atmosphere. When they flew to investigate the crash site, they came upon Darrow of Lykos and Virginia au Augustus, along with a wounded Cassius au Bellona and a dying Ragnar. After Ragnar passed, the Valkyrie brought them to the Spires for Alia to decide their fate.[1]

When Alia would not be swayed by Darrow's efforts to secure her support against the Gold regime, Sefi and a cadre of Valkyrie were dispatched to bring him, Virginia, and Holiday to Asgard in chains. While en route, Darrow was able to convince Sefi to support him, and she led her Valkyrie in seizing control of Asgard.[3][4]

Iron Gold[]

At some point before July 753, one of the Valkyrie who took the Morning Star with Darrow grew disillusioned, and sold her helmet camera footage of Darrow ordering the destruction of the Ganymede Dockyards to the Ophion Guild.[5]

Dark Age[]

The majority of the Valkyrie followed Sefi as she recalled the rest of her people to Mars for the creation of a new Obsidian nation known as the Alltribe. They arrived on Mars in late 753 PCE, and attended Sefi as bodyguards while she oversaw the preparations for her people to seize the helium-3 mines of Cimmeria.[6][7]

During the prepartions, they served as bodyguards to important members of Sefi's court such as Xenophon,[8] and also enforced the Tribe's rules by hunting and punishing poachers.
