Videli cu Yancra is a Copper and the Warden of Deepgrave during the Solar War.
Involvement[]
Solar War[]
At some point between 743 and 753 PCE, Videli gave the order to cut off the tongue of one of the prison's guards, who became known as Tongueless.[1]
When Apollonius au Valii-Rath was captured and sentenced to Deepgrave in 747 PCE, he warned Videli that his face would be the last thing the Copper ever saw.
At some point before 750 PCE, Apollonius paid Videli to leave solitary confinement and improve his living arrangements using his hidden bank accounts and vaults. With the money from Apollonius and other Gold prisoners who made similar arrangements, Videli bought himself numerous luxury goods beyond what his salary could afford, such as Venusian silk rugs.
In 750 PCE, Videli helped Apollonius arrange to have the Ash Lord poisoned.[2]
Iron Gold[]
Darrow, Sevro, and The Howlers interrogate Videli in his office during their infiltration of Deepgrave about why Apollonius is not in his cell. Videli claims that Apollonius committed suicide by starvation a year ago, but Darrow points out that if this were true, he would've simply reported the death in the prison's logs so that the cell could be reused for another prisoner, instead of ensuring that the records still showed Apollonius as alive and assigned to that cell. Darrow and the Howlers deduce what Videli did and why, but Videli assures them that Apollonius is still within the prison. Darrow uses the threat of being caught and imprisoned within Deepgrave himself to coerce Videli into taking them to Apollonius and not reporting their presence to the Republic.
After Darrow persuades Apollonius to come with them, Apollonius asks Videli to remind him of a threat that Apollonius had made upon his incarceration. Realizing that the Minotaur intends to kill Videli, Darrow lies that the warden has a biometric monitor on his heart that will lock down the entire prison if he dies.
When the Howlers prepare to leave, Apollonius grabs Videli's face and squeezes his eyeballs until they explode. As the Howlers escape with Apollonius in custody, the warden is left squirming and bloodied in the "cell", but Thraxa reports that he's only unconscious and blind.
